St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will present a Candlelight Christmas Concert on Friday, December 14 at 8PM. This year, instead of Messiah and Lessons & Carols, Interim Director of Music Ministry, Arthur Sjögren, the St. Mark’s Choir, a professional orchestra, and special musical guests, will perform two of the great baroque Magnificats. Internationally renowned choral conductor Arthur Sjögren is best known for excellence in choral performances of innovative and captivating programs drawing from the sixteenth century to contemporary and commissioned works. He is also internationally recognized as a music editor and as a teacher of voice and choral conducting.

The concert will also feature the premiere of a piece composed for this event by composer Michael Minard. Mr. Minard has composed scores for film and television, including HBO, TNT, and PBS American Playhouse. Richard Brody of The New Yorker wrote that the dance sequences Minard scored for the celebrated film Losing Ground were “among the best musical numbers in the modern cinema.”

General admission tickets are available for $20 ($10 for students) through the St. Mark’s website, the Church Office or at the door. Directions to the church can also be found on the website.
