Episcopal Church Women
Focus: Episcopal Church Women is a ministry that affirms women's gifts and helps offer them in service to others.
Scope: The ECW helps raise funds for outreach ministries by coordinating with women in the church to help assist with charities like United Thank Offering. ECW works from a nucleus rooted in parish chapters that then reach out with and through other organizations to identify agencies that need support and to assist in fundraising for their ministries.
- Regular Meetings: ECW holds an annual meeting once a year where officers are elected. This year (2018) the meeting is on May 3rd in Aqua Turf Country Club in Plantsville, CT.
- Public Events: Other events the ECW is involved in include: Fall United Thank Offering; Quiet Day; Province One meeting for ECW; parish and board meetings.
ECCT parishes active: St. John's, Bridgeport; St. Mary's Manchester, and many more!
- Officers are elected at the annual meeting among women throughout the state, but the ministry encourages grass-roots involvement and coordination on parish levels.
- The national ECW (website here) organizes the Triennial meeting, which meets at the same time and place as The Episcopal Church's General Convention. Diocesan chapters elect representatives to attend. The national ECW organizes Sunday worship during General convention, which includes a symbolic collection of United Thank Offering donations from every participating diocese.
