The Bishops' Fund for Children
The Episcopal Church in Connecticut established the Bishops' Fund for Children in 1994 under the leadership of Bishop Clarence Coleridge. The Bishops' Fund was created to enhance awareness of the plight of children at risk throughout Connecticut and to raise funds to underwrite social service programs that aid these children in our urban, suburban and rural neighborhoods. Since 1994, the Bishops' Fund for Children has granted over $3 million.
The Board of Directors of the Bishops’ Fund for Children decided on November 15, 2015 to end its tenure as a separate board as of December 31, 2015 and transfer its current and future programs and assets to Camp Washington for activities serving children at risk. The Board of Camp Washington enthusiastically welcomed this new direction for the Bishops’ Fund for Children, and the offices and operations were transferred to the Camp in early 2016.
Many of the activities which have become associated with the Fund, including the Bishops 5K, the annual grant cycle and other programs are being evaluated by the Camp Washington Board of Directors as they review the current activities and plan for the future.
All correspondence and donations should be sent to Camp Washington c/o: Bishops' Fund for Children,190 Kenyon Rd, Lakeside, CT 06758.
