Canon XVII: Removal of a Member of an ECCT Committee, Commission, or Board
Section 1. The following removal process shall apply to any committee, commission, or board of ECCT that does not have its own process for removing members of its leadership body in its by-laws or similar governance structure.
Section 2. A member of an ECCT committee, commission, or board may be removed from office by a vote of two-thirds of the membership of the committee, commission, or board for cause, including but not limited to failure or refusal to attend and participate in the work of the committee, commission, or board, or other misconduct or malfeasance, provided that (a) those members of the committee, commission, or board who believe that the member should be removed have first sought the advice of an ECCT Bishop on the circumstances giving rise to their belief that the member should be removed, (b) the ECCT Bishop consulted has consented to a removal vote by the committee, commission, or board, (c) the member whose removal is sought has been provided an opportunity to resign from the committee, commission, or board, (d) all members of the committee, commission, or board and the Bishops have been notified of the proposed removal vote at least ten (10) days before the vote, and (e) the member has been provided an opportunity to be heard by the other members of the committee, commission, or board before the removal vote.
