Angels in the Bleak Midwinter, a Blue Christmas Service at Holy Trinity, Enfield

Are you all excited about Christmas this year . . . or maybe not so much? Are you still feeling the weariness and losses of the pandemic? Are you grieving a death or a broken relationship? Are you suffering the pain of disability or illness in your life or becoming overstretched as a caregiver? There is no end to the reasons that someone may be out of step with Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls, or may anticipate the holidays with sadness or mixed emotions.

The annual Blue Christmas service at Holy Trinity, Enfield recognizes these feelings. It finds a way to celebrate the ‘reason for the season’ in an atmosphere of quiet. The meditative mood is not melancholy, but reflective, with a message that considers the hurts, the losses, the brokenness that have no season, along with the persistent healing and reconciling power of Love.

Let this be your invitation to come as you are on the 16th and spend some time in a place where nothing is expected of you. There will be appropriate music, scripture and prayer, and an opportunity to receive laying on of hands and prayers for healing.
