Healing from Internalized Oppression: Who told you, you were naked? In-person at St. Monica’s, Hartford

***Please note: This is a two day series for people of color and attendance is required on both days.

The Episcopal Church of African Descent Ministries is offering a two-day retreat for those within the Episcopal community who are interested in uncovering and confronting shame in order to explore and heal internalized racial traumas among people of color.

Through a series of modules this internalized oppression curriculum educates participants about institutional, interpersonal, and internal oppression to facilitate a healing process that empowers people for transformational ministry in the name of Jesus.

Among the topics covered:

  • Shame= Silence, Secrecy and Judgement
  • The lies we’ve told and creating new narratives
  • Historical, theological and social constructs of oppression

Participants will be challenged to personally explore their life experiences through a didactic group process that invites them on a journey towards wholeness.
