Loving God’s Creation: Faith Community and Climate Disruption at Trinity, Newtown

March 27, 2022 @ 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Hybrid Hybrid Event

As communities around the planet face climate disruption, how can people of faith respond? As neighbors in Newtown, CT, can we plan locally for adaptation and mutual support?

With Christian theology in one hand and climate science in the other, let’s engage in Spirit-filled conversation about what it means to love God and God’s creation!

Led by Rev. Andrea Castner Wyatt and Lisa Mages @ Trinity Episcopal Church, we invite to this conversation folk from any faith tradition, or none – as long as you are comfortable with Christian language and imagery.

We will use as a resource John Philip Newell’s 2021 book Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom for Reawakening to What Our Souls Know and Healing the World. We will also survey work of climate scientists and activists.

We hope to discern together passion for local initiatives.

We will gather on the 4 Sunday afternoons in March of 2022 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in a hybrid fashion – in person at Trinity Church, 36 Main Street Newtown, and online through Zoom. (203-426-9070 or admin@trinitynewtownct.org for questions)
