SUMMARY:A Passion for the Planet - Oratorio Concert
DESCRIPTION:A Passion for the Planet\, composed by Geoffrey Hudson\, is 
 an hour-long eco-oratorio with lyrics drawn from scientific prose\, poet
 ry and sacred texts from many faiths.\n\nHudson\, an American composer\,
  often writes for stringed instruments and has had his work performed ac
 ross the U.S. and Europe.  The piece is scored for a chorus of mixed voi
 ces\, a children’s chorus\, soprano and baritone soloists\, and a 12-m
 ember instrumental ensemble. It premiered in Northampton\, Massachusetts
 \, USA\, in June 2012.\n\nNew Britain-based CONCORA will perform Hudsonâ
 €™s Passion as part of a four-state tour to raise awareness of environme
 ntal concerns and showcase solutions across New England. The Waterbury p
 erformance is the first program of the fall season of Concerts on the Gr
 een\, sponsored by St. John’s Episcopal Church in Waterbury.\n\nThe pa
 rtners will host an Information and Get-involved Fair immediately follow
 ing the concert\, to be held in the church Auditorium.\n\nProceeds from 
 this event will support the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and its 
 mission to protect the health of the watershed through science\, educati
 on\, advocacy\, and community engagement.
