Félix Arnaldo Rivera

I am a Clergy Person

Please describe your current involvement in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut using first person, narrative language.

I serve as deacon at All Saints/Todo Los Santos in Meriden and as a missioner at Trinity, Lime Rock reaching out to the Spanish speaking communities in the area. I currently am the convener for The Hispanic Ministry Network which represents eight churches currently doing ministries for the Latino/Hispanic community. We work together by sharing our gifts, successes and challenges.
Presently I am serving on the Commission on Ministries and involved in its curriculum subcommittee. I am a COM companion to a postulant for the priesthood. I was elected in last year’s convention to serve on Mission Council and fill an unexpired term and currently serving as a member. I am part of the Clergy of Color group in the diocese where I have an opportunity to connect with my sisters and brothers of African American, African Caribbean origin and working to grow diversity in this diocese.

Please describe your current involvement in your local community and any wider community engagement using first person, narrative language.

I reside in Meriden and volunteer in the Meriden Farmers Market serving in its welcoming team and especially reaching out to its Spanish speaking community. I also volunteer in the planning, setting up and working at Meriden’s annual YuleFest holiday celebration for ages, and all faith and secular communities.

Please provide a brief personal statement as to why you are suited to this position using first person narrative language.

This was my first experience with the Mission Council. I was not sure at the time last year if I was qualified or called to be a part of this group. I have been learning through listening and working together with my colleagues in the council. With my Latino heritage I come to the table representing them, the communities I serve and the wider community of our diocese.
