“Lord, make us instruments of your peace.” ~St. Francis of Assisi
Dear Siblings in Christ,
We write to ask you to join us in prayer, following the attempted assassination of former President Trump yesterday in Butler, PA. Pray for former President Trump as he recovers. Pray for the rally attendee who was killed. Pray for the shooter. Pray for their families who grieve and all those in attendance who were impacted by this violence.
As we come together as Episcopalians across Connecticut this morning, may we remember that we are followers of Jesus and a people of the Gospel. The way forward must be by means of love and not violence.
Let us pray:
“O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus Christ your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
A Prayer for the Human Family, BCP p. 815
