The Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut

Announcement of Retirement: Bonni McKenney, Administrator for the Programs of the Episcopate

After 33 years of dedicated service to the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, Bonni McKenney, Administrator for the Programs of the Episcopate, is setting her sights on a well deserved retirement. Her final day will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
Bonni began her career in 1986 as Secretary reporting to The Rev. Douglas T. Cooke. From there, she held a series of positions, providing administrative support for the Rev. Cn. Richard Tombaugh, and later for Bishop James E. Curry. Through time, Bonni took on additional responsibilities and used her gift of hospitality in organizing a range of successful diocesan wide events.
Diligent and dedicated, Bonni is probably best known for her natural ability to connect with all those who come in contact with her. Her gifted sense of forming genuine relationships with clergy and laity alike has played a key role in her efficiently performing her various duties throughout the years.
"Romans 15:7 says 7 Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God."
Bonni has modeled for me and for all of us what welcoming hospitality looks like and feels like," said Laura J. Ahrens, Bishop Suffragan. "I have had the privilege and the blessing of watching Bonni welcome new clergy, retiring clergy and all of us somewhere in between (clergy and laity) into the offices of the Episcopal Church in CT since I joined the staff in 2007. Her generosity of time, conversation and love has brought me to a deeper understanding of how we can all share the glory of God!"
Bonni plans to spend her retirement with her grandchildren, gardening, and traveling. We hope she is blessed with many wonderful experiences and we will never forget her contributions to ECCT. Prayers and blessings on a well earned retirement.
