Bishops Statement on Shooting in Milwaukee

Bishops Statement on Shooting in Milwaukee

Dear Companions in Christ:

Once again, we have witnessed a horrendous incident of gun violence on yet another Ash Wednesday as we begin the holy season of Lent. Our hearts break for all those who have been affected by the tragedy at the Molson/Coors plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  We assure those who have died and have been injured, their families and loved ones, and the first responders and medical professionals attending to the injured and the dead, of our prayers and heart-felt concern.  We have been in touch with our friend and colleague in ministry, the Rt. Rev. Steven Miller, Episcopal Bishop of Milwaukee, and have also assured him of the prayers of the faithful in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut for the people of Milwaukee.

As participating bishops in Bishops United Against Gun Violence (BUAGV), a network of over 100 Episcopal Bishops dedicated to overcoming gun violence in our nation, we offer the following statement from BUAGV as our statement on the tragedy in Milwaukee.

Please pray and work for an end to gun violence in our communities and nation.

Faithfully,
