Dear Siblings in Christ,
From September 9-16, bishops and their spouses from across The Episcopal Church were hosted by the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic for our fall House of Bishops meeting to pray, learn from each other, and to discern and discuss our voices as leaders in The Episcopal Church at this crucial time in our history. With the leadership and guidance of the Most Rev. Sean Rowe, we examined topics vital to our church today including our stewardship of our properties and theological education.
We also had the privilege of visiting ministries offered in the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic throughout our time together. On Saturday, we joined in glorious worship with over 800 Dominican Episcopalians. In the unscheduled moments of our days, we deepened our friendships across the House. On our last day, we prepared a “Word to the Church” from the bishops who were gathered. We are grateful for the grace-filled and generous hospitality of the people of the Dominican Republic.
What follows below are links to the “Word to the Church” from the gathered bishops, and articles from the Episcopal News Service regarding our meeting.
We covet your continued prayers as we continue to pray for you.
Yours in Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey W. Mello, Bishop Diocesan & The Rt. Rev. Laura J. Ahrens, Bishop Suffragan
