Remembering Newtown - One Year Later

Bell Ringings & Other Commemorations

  • This Saturday, December 14 at 9:30AM, the bells of Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Hartford will be rung 26 times in memory of the victims of the Newtown shootings. It will be followed by "The King of Love my Shepherd Is."
  • This Saturday (December 14th) at 9:30am (Eastern), St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Kent, CT will hold a bell-ringing to remember the anniversary of the tragedy at Sand Hook Elementary School.
  • St. Paul's on the Green will be joined by Norwalk Mayor, Harry Rilling, and uniformed 1st responders from the city for brief prayers, the ringing of bells and a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. We will gather on the lawn by the newly planted evergreen tree bearing glass ornaments with the names of victims that was lit last night and will remain lighted throughout the day.   • Christ Episcopal Church, East Norwalk will ring the tower bells at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
  • The Church of the Epiphany, Southbury, will ring the bells at 9:30 am 28 times to include the perpetrator and his mother who also died.
  • Christ Church Parish, Redding, will ring their bells 28 times.
  • St. Peter's, Monroe, will toll the bells 28 times - with many parishioners taking part.
