We write to you with some sad news about the deaths of Ed Hebbthe Reverend Charles Edward (Paul) Hocking, the Reverend Enrique Irizarry, and the Reverend Donald Page. Information regarding their services can be found below. We give God great thanks for each of their lives and their dedication to the life and ministry of The Episcopal Church in Connecticut. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servants: Ed HebbPaul Hocking, Enrique Irizarry, and Donald Page. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive them into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

May the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.


Ed Hebb, Jr.

May 9, 1928 – December 31, 2023

Edwin Gordon Hebb, Jr., passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023, at the age of 95. Born on May 9, 1928, in Burlington, VT, Ed lived a long and rewarding life. He served ECCT as Vice Chancellor and Chancellor from 1975 to 2008. During his time of service, Ed initiated the Conference for the Province One Chancellors and enjoyed the professional exchange and fellowship of the group. In honor of Ed’s faithful and valuable service to the ECCT, he was bestowed the honorary title of Canon in 2008.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James’s Episcopal Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Episcopal Church in CT, 290 Pratt Street, Box 52, Meriden, CT 06450.


The Reverend Charles Edward (Paul) Hocking

November 17, 1930 – December 11, 2023

The Reverend Paul Hocking died December 11, 2023. He was born November 17, 1930. He became an ECCT deacon in 1964, sponsored by Church of the Holy Advent in Clinton, CT, and was ordained to the priesthood on March 27, 1965. He was a curate at Christ Church, Greenwich, from 1964-1966, and served as Rector of Church of the Resurrection, Norwich, 1966-1972. After that, he served as Priest-in-charge at St. Peter’s, Cheshire, 1972-1979. He then moved to North Carolina. During his time in ECCT, he also served as Chairman to the Diocesan Liturgical Commission from 1972-1975. He was the supplemental deputy to convention from 1975-1978.


The Reverend Enrique Irizarry

September 28, 1940 – December 2023

Padre Quique, as he liked to be called, served in ECCT for many years. His last call in ECCT, before returning to his beloved home, Puerto Rico, was Church of the Good Shepherd, Hartford. During his time in ECCT he co-formed a discernment group of Latinas/os in 2015 for Holy Orders.


The Reverend Donald R. Page

1943 – December 2023

The Reverend Donald R. Page was born in 1943 and raised in Haddon Heights, NJ. Don was ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1971. In Connecticut he served at Grace Church in Stafford Springs, Northeast Regional Ministries, and Holy Trinity in Enfield. For 17 years prior to retirement, he was the Director of Spiritual Care/ Chaplain at Evergreen Healthcare Center and Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, CT. Don was also a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council and Spiritual Council at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, NJ.
