Dean Robert Willis

Dean Willis died suddenly on October 22 while serving as a resident fellow at Berkeley Divinity School (BDS) at Yale University.

He served as Canterbury’s 39th Dean for nearly 21 years before retiring. Many in our diocese knew Dean Willis through the hospitality he and his partner Fletcher Banner extended to BDS students during their Canterbury pilgrimage. Dean Willis was also a noted hymn writer and became globally known during the pandemic for his Morning Prayer services on YouTube.
