Wake & Requiem Mass Information: The Rev. Darryl Burke

Dear Siblings in Christ,

We write to inform you regarding the wake and funeral arrangements of the Rev. Darryl Burke.

A wake will be held at St. Monica’s Episcopal Church on September 3, 2025 at 5 PM.   

A Requiem Mass will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on September 4, 2025 at 11 AM. Clergy are invited to vest and process. White stoles. Upon arrival, clergy who are vesting are invited to do so in the Reception Room at the Cathedral House.

St. Monica’s Episcopal Church is located at 3575 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06120.

Christ Church Cathedral is located at 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT 06103. Those attending are welcome to park in the MAT Garage across the street from the Cathedral. Tickets will be validated.

The Rev. Darryl Burke (1952-2025)

The Reverend Darryl Burke died Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. After a career as an educator and administrator in the Hartford Public Schools, he was ordained to the priesthood in 2020 by the Episcopal Church in Connecticut. He then served as Priest-in-Charge at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland, CT.

Darryl was a member of The Episcopal Church in Connecticut’s Standing Committee. He was also a member of the Reparations Task Force and was an important voice in the development of the 2020 Resolution #7, “Acknowledging & Confronting Systemic Racism, White Supremacy, & Anti-Black Bias.”
