What is a Regional Leadership Team?
Regions are the local expression of shared life in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut. The Regional Leadership Team (RLT) is a collaborative, Spirit-led body that supports and encourages local parishes, Intentional Episcopal Communities, and community partners to live into God’s mission together in their part of Connecticut. The RLT’s purpose is to foster relationships in the area, share in ministry, and connect the Region’s life to the broader diocesan mission.
Core functions:
- Leadership & Coordination
- Guide and support ministry collaboration among the parishes and Intentional Episcopal Communities (IECs) in their Region
- Encourage communication and mutual care
- Help identify and empower local leaders
- Connection & Communication
- Share information, opportunities, and best practices across parishes
- Serve as a bridge between the local community and diocesan support
- Discernment & Mission Development
- Discern regional priorities for mission and ministry
- Initiate and support projects that respond to local community needs
- Representation & Networking

Composition
Each RLT includes:
- A convener, who organizes and leads meetings and facilitates communications
- A clerk, who takes minutes and shares them with the ECCT, cares for membership lists, and other administrative needs of the group
- Lay & ordained members from multiple congregations in the Region
- Representatives to governance, such as Mission Council
- Parish Fiduciary Holder, who will hold grant funds, oversee bookkeeping and reporting
- RLTs are supported by diocesan staff. Most directly, the Director for Congregational Development & Networking, who will take part in the life of each region and RLT gatherings, support the RLT in articulating regional goals, and troubleshooting conflict.
Gathering & Funding
Each RLT is expected to convene the region periodically throughout the year. This often includes a yearly convocation, regional gatherings, and group visits in support of various parish events in the region. Each region is allotted ($2,500) per year to support the region. Other grants are available through the ECCT. Each region will provide its own organizational structure and leadership per ECCT Canon XI, Sec. 5.
Each region’s page includes the full listing of their Region Leadership Team, including contact information for the convener.
