Historically, full-time clergy and other church professionals have been entitled to a fully paid three-month Sabbatical. This three-month time is intended to be an opportunity for professional training, spiritual growth, and personal refreshment. While there is no specific recommendation for part-time clergy to take Sabbatical, they are encouraged to negotiate with their vestries or supervisors for it.
ECCT’s diocesan convention recommends that church professionals be freed from their regular duties for three months every five years for Sabbatical.
