Vestry 101

Have you ever wondered what a Vestry does? Have you ever thought of offering your gifts and serving on your parish’s Vestry? Please join this workshop as we engage these questions and others.   

FACILITATORS: The Reverend Canon Ranjit K. Mathews has been Canon to the Ordinary on the Bishop’s staff since October 2023. Prior to his current assignment, Ranjit served as Canon for Mission Advocacy, Racial Justice and Reconciliation for nearly two years. He served as rector of St. James Episcopal Church in New London, CT. In 2019, he was named a Community Partner by the New London chapter of the NAACP. He previously served as Partnership Officer for Africa on the Presiding Bishop’s staff of The Episcopal Church. As a diplomat from The Episcopal Church and the Presiding Bishop to Anglican Provinces and dioceses in Africa south of the Sahara, Canon Ranjit worked towards mutual mission priorities amongst Anglican/Episcopal partners in the region.

As clergy deputy from ECCT, Ranjit served as secretary of the Social Justice and International Policy Legislative Committee for the House of Deputies for the 80th General Convention and he chairs the interim Task Force of Dialogue with South Sudanese Anglicans living in the diaspora. He is a board member of Episcopal Relief and Development and the Episcopal Evangelism Society; and serves as clergy representative on The Episcopal Church’s delegation to the Anglican Consultative Council. Ranjit lives with his spouse, Johanna, their two boys, Dhruv and Kabir, and their dog, Samara. He grew up in the Boston area and considers New England home. He loves national and local politics, pop culture, hip-hop, sports, and travel.

Vicki MarkAnthony is a retired teacher and has served Christ Church Easton as Lector, Chair of Mission and Outreach, Chair of Concerts on the Hill, Stewardship, Lay Leader, and Preacher. She is currently serving as Senior Warden. Being without a priest-in-charge has been an education and a challenge that has brought her closer to the congregation.
