TThe Rt. Rev. Jeffrey W. Mello is the sixteenth bishop of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT). Bishop Mello grew up in Rhode Island where he fell in love with Jesus and the Church. He went to Rhode Island College and earned a B.A. in Theater Performance. He also earned an M.S.W. from Simmons University.
Bishop Mello earned his M.Div. from the Episcopal Divinity School and was ordained a deacon in 2007 in the Diocese of Massachusetts. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2008. After his ordination, he served parishes in Cambridge and Brookline, MA, until his election as ECCT’s Bishop Diocesan.
With his vision and leadership, ECCT seeks to meet those in the diocese where they are, and support them in becoming who it is, as individuals and communities, God needs them to be.
Bishop Mello enjoys spending time with his family, running, coffee ice cream, and seeing theater. He is married to Paul Daigneault, founder and artistic director of SpeakEasy Stage Company in Boston, MA. Together, they have one adult son, Ardani.
