For our special seasonal music offering this year, the music ministry of St. James’s presents selections from Bach’s Cantata No. 62 Nun Komm, Der Heiden Heiland, accompanied by professional instrumental ensemble. This Baroque masterpiece, composed in 1724, encapsulates some of Bach’s most vivid and evocative contrapuntal textures in the setting of a hymn by Martin Luther.The program will also feature works by James MacMillan, Dietrich Buxtehude, Cecilia McDowell, Rosephanye Powell, and others.
