Join us for a night of music and conversation at Music On Main, a ministry of Trinity Stage at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Middletown, CT.
Race and Song was born in 2020 out of a deep bond and nearly 30-year friendship between veteran musicians and storytelling troubadours Reggie Harris and Alastair Moock. Together in musical conversation, the two explore complex issues of race, class, gender, and history, framing their lived experiences through music for a program that’s as entertaining as it is educational.
Improvising together on songs like “Wade in the Water,” “This Little Light of Mine,” and original compositions, the duo demonstrate the unique ability of music to express sorrow, joy, creativity, and determination. One of Alastair and Reggie’s greatest strengths is their ability to meet audiences where they are, adapting their conversation and musical repertoire for a wide range of ages and experiences, from elementary schoolers through adults.
This event will take place at Church of the Holy Trinity, Middletown CT, and will feature 1.5 hours of music and dialogue. Doors open at 3:30pm, with the event starting at 4pm. Snacks and coffee will be provided. A $10 suggested donation is requested to support the mission of Saint Vincent De Paul in Middletown, but the event is open to anyone ages 5 and up. Parking downtown is free on Sundays, with ample space along Main Street or in lots on Broad Street. All are welcome!
