As in many places today, clergy in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut face the challenge of leading in the post-pandemic environment, amidst major cultural headwinds against participation in traditional congregations, and in a volatile social context. While the DNA of “missional church” has been present in the diocese for many years, deeper questions of discipleship, identity (of the church and clergy) and faithful innovation continue to emerge. What does faithful and effective leadership look like amidst increasing lay leadership and shifting demands on volunteerism and resources?
This year’s Clergy Conference will feature the Rev. Canon Blair Pogue, Canon for Innovation in the Episcopal Church in Minnesota and the Rev. Dwight Zscheile, Professor of Congregational Mission and Leadership at Luther Seminary as they lead us through short presentations, transferable spiritual practices, storytelling, and interactive small group discussions to engage these questions.

What is Clergy Conference?
Clergy Conference is an annual gathering of canonically resident clergy in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut in which time is set apart to be in fellowship with colleagues across the diocese, and to be fed in worship and reflection. All canonically resident clergy are expected to attend unless excused by the bishop.
