Resolution:

RESOLVED, That the 241st Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut ratifies the merger into one parish of St. John’s Episcopal Church in East Windsor and Grace Episcopal Church in Windsor, such merger having been approved by, and undertaken in the manner and under the conditions required by the Bishops and Standing Committee in keeping with Canon I, Section 13 of the Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the resulting merged parish located in Windsor shall be named Grace Episcopal Church.

Explanation:

Explanation: Merging the two parishes will allow people of the merged church to work together to further God’s mission and outreach programs for the combined Windsor/East Windsor communities and beyond. St. John’s Church will no longer continue to worship or do outreach in their current space. Grace Church has already shared a similar vision to St. John’s for mission and outreach. New friendships have already developed and the parishes have collaborated on a few projects. There is renewed energy to do more. We can also provide a greater presence of the Episcopal Church in the communities we serve.

Requirements to Implement:

This resolution does not require any funding or further action by the Episcopal Church in Connecticut.
