Sacred Journey to the Great Swamp

On October 12 we will make a sacred journey to the site of the Great Swamp massacre in Kingston, RI, where English colonists attacked the winter settlement of the neutral Narragansett killing 300-600 men women and children. 2025-2027 marks the 350th anniversary of King Philip’s War, and the Great Swamp massacre was one of the pivotal events in that war. We will gather at St Augustine’s Episcopal Church at URI for orientation, then carpool to the entrance to the site. We will walk a mile and a bit from the entrance to the marker where there will be time for meditation and story telling. Following the visit we will carpool back to St Augustine’s for lunch and discussion. For more information, please contact the Rev Diana Rogers at revdianamrogers@gmail.com.
