Italian-born guitar phenom Peppino D’Agostino is returning to new London, following his sold-out performance there three years ago. Considered, “one of the 50 transcendent acoustic guitarists” (Guitar Player magazine), Peppino returns to New London with his program, Made in Italy.

He will be performing at St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal St, New London, on May 22 at 7:00pm

D’Agostino emerged on the acoustic guitar scene in the early 80’s as a leading member of the second wave of the great fingerstylists that helped redefine the instrument in the ’90s. His remarkable technique, penchant for open tunings, and percussive effects are the basis of his unique compositional style which has been inspiring musicians and audiences alike for decades. Add to that his natural warmth, playfulness, and broad musical tastes and you have the recipe for what he calls “minestrone music.” His virtuosity and his emotional charge have also had a significant influence on the younger generation of fingerstyle guitarists.

The concert is being produced by The Anglican Singers, Artists-in-Residence at St James.

The Anglican Singers, founded in 1996, is dedicated to performing the finest music of the English choral tradition, spanning half a millennium, in the service of Choral Evensong. Proceeds from this concert will support their European tour fund.

The choir will join Peppino for a musical collaboration as part of the program.

A reception will follow the concert where Peppino and singers of the choir look forward to meeting concertgoers.
